There are three main referral methods:

Faculty and Staff Support Services and GME use the Interactive Screening Program (ISP) in partnership with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The program is currently distributed between two different populations:

  • Residents/Fellows
  • Health Sciences Faculty

Following submission of the online questionnaire, a licensed counselor receives and reviews the submitter’s responses to screen for any additional follow-up needed. Follow-up includes 1:1 consultation with the licensed counselor and/or referrals to on-going treatment or wellbeing resources.

  • Faculty and Staff Support Services – serves as a key point of contact to triage a mental health crisis and connect UCI Health employees to the necessary resource. This service is able to provide individual assessments for all UCI Health employees by request, as well as 1:1 crisis/trauma support.
  • Life Resources Program (available 24/7, 365 days per year)
  • Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) – Available 24/7, this organization provides support immediately following a traumatic incident. Dedicated volunteers can be available onsite within 25 minutes of the occurrence, and can stay as long as necessary to provide consolation and guidance. Contact them directly to request services at 949.614.6333. Download the TIP flyer to learn more.
  • UC Health Insurance – All UC medical plans include comprehensive and robust behavioral health coverage for visits with psychologists, psychiatrists, and counselors, as well as substance abuse treatment offered in-person and or via telehealth.
