RECONSIDERATION PROCESS
If a staff member disagrees with a remote work eligibility decision or flexible work arrangement, they may seek
a reconsideration process to review the process and criteria that a school or administrative unit used to make their
decisions. The reconsideration process will first be handled through a local departmental review process
(e.g., unit Human Resources and local leadership). If after reconsideration, the staff is still seeking
further review, HR Policy and Compliance may review the decision for any issues of process consistency
and equity.
SUPERVISOR INSTRUCTIONS
Used when a staff member requests a reconsideration of a remote work or flexible schedule arrangement.
- Meet with the staff member to understand their flexible work arrangement concerns and/or preferences.
- Review your decision-making criteria e.g., Staff Remote Work Criteria Checklist or Staff Flexible Work Schedule
Criteria Checklist to determine if changes can be made that would not negatively impact unit operations and services.
- If able to accommodate the staff member’s request, communicate the new arrangement and update the Remote
Work Agreement or confirm via email the new flexible arrangement.
- If unable to accommodate the staff member’s request, communicate to the staff
member the specific rationale for the decision, i.e., criteria, services, and client needs, etc.
- Discuss with your unit HR Professional as needed.
