INFORMATION FOR STAFF REGARDING CORONAVIRUS

PROCESS FOR REPORTING CAMPUS COVID-19 CASES

THIS PROCESS IS USED TO REPORT:

  • Staff and Faculty with a lab-confirmed positive test result
  • Staff and Faculty with a suspected case (pending test results or experiencing symptoms)
  • Staff and Faculty who may have been exposed (physical or close contact [>15 minutes & <6 feet] with a confirmed COVID-19 positive individual)
  • Students and Student Workers should submit cases through this link, or call 949-824-5304

STEP 1
REPORT

INDIVIDUAL

  • DO NOT GO TO WORK
  • Inform supervisor
  • Seek medical advice*

SUPERVISOR

DEPARTMENTAL HR

STEP 2
RESPOND

DEPARTMENTAL HR

SUPERVISOR

  • Consult with EH&S for decontamination strategy by emailing: safety@uci.edu.

COEH

  • Evaluate symptoms & assess potential exposures

CENTRAL HR

  • Send CRF to Human Resources
  • Provide COVID reports
  • Coordinate work-comp cases if applicable

STEP 3
RETURN

INDIVIDUAL

  • Provide medical clearance documentation (from Primary Care Provider or COEH) to supervisor

SUPERVISOR

  • Coordinate return with Departmental HR

COEH

  • Provide medical clearance to supervisor if individual was placed off work by COEH

DEPARTMENTAL HR

  • Inform central HR when individual is cleared to return to work
