PROCESS FOR REPORTING COVID-19 CASES

REPORTING CRITERIA FOR STAFF | Suspected and Confirmed Cases

STEP 1
REPORT

INDIVIDUAL

  • DO NOT GO TO WORK
  • Remain self-Isolated at home
  • Inform supervisor
  • Contact Occupational Health for screening and testing (M-F, 8a-5p) at 714-456-8300. Contact Inpatient Triage after hours at 714-456-6733
  • If you develop severe symptoms, contact your primary physician or go to the Emergency Room
  • Contact the Employee Experience Center (EEC) at 949-824-0500 or eec@uci.edu with benefit and leave questions

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH

  • Notify employee’s supervisor of employee’s work status
  • Log and report all COVID related cases

STEP 2
RESPOND

SUPERVISOR

  • Consult with EH&S for decontamination strategy
  • Determine eligibility for COVID related paid leave and complete appropriate documentation

EIP (ORANGE CAMPUS)/
EH&S (IRVINE CAMPUS)

  • Evaluate and assess potential worksite exposures

HR

  • Provide organizational COVID
  • Coordinate leave of absence cases, if applicable
  • Coordinate work-comp cases or disability, if applicable

STEP 3
RETURN

INDIVIDUAL

  • Return to Occupational Health for medical clearance
  • If medical clearance documentation provided by Primary Care Physician, provide to Occupational Health

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH

  • Provide medical clearance to supervisor

SUPERVISOR

  • Return employee to work schedule

HR

  • Process return to work and close case as appropriate
